Marathon training from winter into spring
What also speaks in favor of participating in a marathon in May is the wide selection of running events. After all, much like April, there are plenty of running events in May. The advantage for a slightly later participation in May is that the entire marathon training does not have to be completed in the cold and often not motivating season. For example, if you run a marathon in early April, you will begin specific marathon preparation no later than early January. On the other hand, if you are planning a marathon for mid-May, the start for specific marathon training is mid-February. Accordingly, a large part of the preparation can be done in the spring.

Internationally, there are city marathons in numerous major cities in May. The Prague Marathon, for example, has established itself as one of the fastest marathons in Europe. Other fine European marathons are held in May in Geneva, Copenhagen, Riga and Luxembourg.
