Despite the warmer temperatures, which can limit running performance, there are plenty of events in June.
In the USA, the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon San Diego and the Lake Placid Marathon are scheduled for June. The Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run will be even longer. It is one of the most famous ultra runs in the world.
For triathletes, there are the IRONMAN 70.3 middle-distance races in Hawaii, Lubbock, Eagleman and Coeur d'Alene.
Trail runs in the Alps
In Austria and Switzerland, however, trail and mountain runs are in the foreground at the beginning of summer. A "showcase event" is the Hochkönigman in Salzburg, which appeals to all performance levels with trail runs between 10 and 85 kilometers. The ambience of the course is also indescribably beautiful.
In Switzerland, there is the Scenic Trail in the canton of Ticino. The longest competition leads over almost 170 kilometers with more than 12,000 meters of altitude. But Germany also has an unforgettable mountain adventure in its repertoire with the Zugspitz Ultratrail. In the easternmost area of the Alps, there is also the Austria eXtreme Triathlon, a long-distance triathlon that is many times more demanding than the typical long-distance races. By the way, the Bieler Lauftage are also challenging in Switzerland. The 100-kilometer run is one of the most famous ultra runs in the world.
